The CPAP machine filter the air pollutants as it provides the user with filtrated positive airway pressure.  Without the air filter, the user would be breathing the air quality that is in the room with no added filtration. These filters are NOT to be cleaned. If one gets wet, dirty or torn, throw it away and replace with a new one.
