The bamboo reeds seen in temple flags represent steps to heaven, or the elevation of prayers to a higher realm where they are heard and (hopefully) granted.This piece is woven by Mrs. Daphone. She’s incorporated the ‘siho’, a half lion-half elephant mythical creature who symbolises strength and fortitude. The siho is carrying flowers and is accompanied by birds, reflecting everyday beauty and gratitude. A master weaver, Mrs. Daphone uses both ikat and supplementary weft weaving techniques in this three-panel wall hanging.
