Variable Fiber Optic VOA In-Line Attenuator (Singlemode, LC/SC/ST/FC, 0~60dB) OPTCORE offers a complete line of low-cost variable in-line optical attenuators (VOA) with low back reflection. These variable optical attenuators allow the user to manually vary the attenuation of the signal in the fiber as it is transmitted through the device. These VOAs can be used to precisely balance the signal strength in a fiber optic circuit or to balance the optical signal when evaluating the dynamic range of the measurement system. These attenuators can be used for 1310nm~1550nm or 850nm~1310nm, with minimal changes in the insertion loss. The attenuators consist of two fiber collimating lenses, prealigned for optimum coupling efficiency. A threaded radial screw is used to block the collimated beam between the two lenses. Because the attenuator works by directly blocking the beam, it is polarization insensitive. These attenuators can be terminated with any connector option including LC, SC, ST, FC, LC/APC, SC/APC, ST/APC, FC/APC. It is a useful tool for the optical components power adjustment and systems test.
